I also teach HKDSE Chemistry for students in Hong Kong, so I'm used to working flexibly across specs and finding what a particular exam board actually rewards. I've been teaching in some form since sixth form, including teaching Chemistry in a London secondary school.\n\nNo two students need the same thing, so I plan around the individual: where the gaps are, what the spec asks for, what they're aiming at. Sessions are structured and calm, and I focus on real understanding rather than memorising — usually by tying a new idea to something they already know well.\n\nI also spend weekends running hands-on science shows for children, from birthday parties to British Science Week.
